All you PETA, tree hugging people save your breath. I know you dont think that monkeys make good pets, and that im a terrible person…………I dont care. So if there is anyone out there who would like to inform a genuine pet lover to where I can get a monkey then it would be greatly appreciated.
I know there is a difference between tree huggers and peta. Also, for the person who said it was illegal….it isnt. I want you to find me one United States legal document stating the illegality of owing a monkey. Like I said save your elaborate funding of terrorist group babble. I am a pet lover who has done extensive research on the matter. I also have 3 vets in my area that can give proper care to a primate. I was needing "HELP" not persecution. If anyone can provide me with a link to a rescue group or a site to where this can be made acheivable. Also, I am aware of the permit guidelines in my state, an extensive home inspection is required.

I’m not sure and I’m not telling you not to get a pet monkey but please, please, please do lots of research on what it takes to keep a monkey happy as a pet. There are way to many stories of people having to give their pets up because they can’t handle it, a monkey is a wild animal. Also make sure it’s legal and there is a vet by you that would be able to care for it if anything were to happen.

Not PETA, but I am a treehugger. You do understand this is illegal, right? You do understand that a lot of illegal trade like this funds terrorist groups, right? And you do know that monkeys can’t survive on bananas, right? I don’t think you’re a terrible person. I just think you are greatly misguided.
edit-
Okay, first, owning a primate IS illegal in several states. Maybe you don’t live in one of those states; I do. There are laws about importing wildlife especially endangered, and it is estimated that about 50% of all primates are endangered. There are also laws governing sales across state lines.
And you initially NEVER said anything about a rescue group. Your question asks where online you can BUY a monkey. If you buy a monkey online, you are more likely than not going to be supporting illegal trade. It has been shown time and again that illegal trade of most goods (like animals counterfeit purses and clothes) – and some legal goods (like diamonds) – can be traced back to terrorist groups or oppressive regimes or rebel groups. So, it’s not babble. If you have to think it is to ease your conscience, well I can’t do much about that. But I just have to ask, if are such a pet lover, why would you want to even risk that you have your animal at the expense of another’s life? G.G. is right about the way many primates find their way to the pet trade. Any documentary on primates would tell you that, but you’ve seen all those since you love monkeys so much…

Your best bet would be rescue groups. They can walk you through all the necessary steps and what preparations/permits would be needed. Any monkey placed through them would have it’s veterinary records up to date. (Oh, fun, you can shop for a monkey vet for your new friend!) This way you can provide a home for a monkey without having someone rip one from the trees illegally. Maybe you can "foster parent" a rescue monkey to make sure it’s what you really want. Rescue groups can also tell you the quirks of each monkey available. Like any pet, some are going to be grouchy people haters and some are going to be hyper and some laid back friends. Best of luck.

PETA doesn’t equal tree hugger! PETA is the owl hugger and the tree huggers are the ones with Priuses. There is some overlap in the two groups, though…
I am anti-PETA and don’t believe I fit most people’s definitions of a "tree-hugger".
As a self-proclaimed "genuine pet lover" you should be opposed to the private ownership of primates, but as you yourself acknowledge, you "don’t care".
Monkeys do not make good pets. There is simply no way to care for them thoroughly or safely in one’s home. One of their most basic needs is inclusion in a proper social group of their own species, so the fact that you want "a" monkey is a red flag. (If you’re now thinking of having several monkeys, forget it, they’ll put you in the hospital in no time.)
Aside from the harm this would do to the monkey and to yourself, think of what it takes to bring one monkey to the USA for the exotic pet trade. The answer is the deaths of countless other monkeys. Primate social groups are so tightly knit that they will defend the babies to their deaths, so those who collect baby monkeys to be sold as pets must first kill all adult members of the troop. Even after that is done, only a small fraction of the babies captured survive the transport. By purchasing a pet monkey, you would be supporting this business and ensuring its continuation.
I am a professional primate keeper at a zoo. One of our gibbons was a victim of this practice. She was kidnapped from the wild as an infant, and her fingers cut off to separate her from her dead mother, to whom she’d been clinging. She then lived as a pet for the first three years of her life, after which her owner had to get rid of her because she had grown too strong and intelligent to keep. She’s lived at my zoo ever since. Having been raised by a human, she was never able to learn how to survive among others of her species, so she must be housed alone. My co-workers and I go to great lengths to provide her with the highest quality of life possible. It is a heartbreaking situation, and it exists because of people who purchase primates as pets.
Also worth noting is that, of the hundreds of employees at my zoo, there are only two groups whose job is deemed dangerous enough that they must carry pepper spray on their persons. One is the large carnivore keepers. The other is the primate keepers, and that includes *all* primates, from tamarins and lemurs to great apes.

I have personally dedicated my life to the welfare of all primates. As such, I am opposed to the practice of keeping primates as privately owned pets.

If you are TRULY an ‘animal lover’, why on earth would you want to keep a monkey as a pet, where they do not belong and were not meant to be? Primates are wild animals. If you love them, leave them in their natural habitat. There are plenty of other animals more adaptable to being pets. You might also think about becoming a vet tech or even volunteering your time at a local zoo so that you can be around primates and other animals without putting them, or yourself, in danger.
just a suggestion.
