What’s the worlds longest living pet fish?

Well my sister is 20 now and when she was young she went to a funfair and won a pet fish. This is happened before I was born. The fish is still living and I’m 13 now. Is 13 years close to a record?

she has done well looking after the fish for so long. i think the record is over 20 or 30 years. look it up on wikipedia site.

There is a koi in japan that is 226 years old.
It just goes to show you what a little TLC can do. koi regularly reach 100.

we had a fish for 13 years it was huge an oscure brown and red stripe it used to take chicken from my hand. we buried it in a shoe box when it died

Well the longest living GOLDFISH was 46 years living in china with 2 elders since the first day they got married.

I think the record for a carnival goldfish is 43 years.
Normally you could expect a common goldfish to live for 20 years. 13 is not unusual, but it does show that it’s been cared for properly.
The main reason cheap goldfish dont live very long is just poor care.
Other fish like Koi, clown loachs and freshwater eels can live even longer.

I heard that a Koi lived for 226 years, u would say how did they know this, as it gets older the koi will get rings on it tail or somewher but not sure

I had a goldfish that lived for about 15 years. He was in a 2′ tank with no other fish, but grew quite large. Always seemed happy and healthy and I think he just died of old age. Your sister is obviously looking after her fishy very well!
