  6. I love tetras, in particular serpae tetra. http://www.thinkfish.co.uk/fish/Serpae_Tetra they grow to about 4cm, red with black flecks. they can bit a little nippy of long tailed fish.

I also like Ember tetras http://www.thinkfish.co.uk/fish/Ember_Tetra not nippy like the serpae and only 2cm.
There are loads of tetras to choose from, in many different colours. They like to be kept in groups of at least 6 in most cases. There is even a tetra with no eyes the Blind Cave Tetra http://www.thinkfish.co.uk/fish/Blind_Cave_Tetra

I love gold fish since they’re well… simple. Or one of those weird fish that suck on the windows… In my opinion get some snails or those window sucking fishes or in other words "bottom feeders" so you won’t have to clean it so much ( trust me you want some… some of them get a little "sticky") and then get a normal fish.

P.S. teach your fish soccer! It’s possible! someone got a mini soccerball and a goal and the goldfish scored!

gouramis — particulary pearl gouramis are very stately fish –

i have them in a tank with sunset honey gouramis — they get along really well and the red/salmon color closely matches the underside of the pearl gouramis. the honey gouramis are very inquisitive and hungry little guys — they nose around the tank all day while the pearls like to display.

some of the south american cichlids are showier (like apisotragrammas and rams) and are a little harder to keep.

Guppies, they get about a inch long and are very pretty. Bala sharks are my favorite as well. They can get up to 18 inches long and live in groups of 3-6. They are silver with black fins and not that agressive (Depending on other fish.) Bala sharks are called sharks for their body shape and fins. they love to jump and may make clicking noises, mainly at night.

I have many fish and I love all of them. I have mollies, cory cats, bala sharks, a betta, plecos, serpae tetras, clown loaches, cardinal tetras, etc. I have had dwarf african clawed frogs as well.

About the fish: The frogs are awesome…they can be so funny. They swim to the top and then float down to the bottom for fun. They are playful, as are the clown loaches. They are wonderful, adventurous fish. The bala sharks aren’t really sharks, just large catfish, and they are very peaceful. My betta is very gentle and gets along well with the other fish. (You should never put two male bettas together, just so you know, because they’ll fight to the death). Plecos can become very large…one of mine is about 5 inches long. They are great to watch because they suck the algae off the tank walls. Great, peaceful fish. The tetras are all schooling fish and it’s great to watch them swim around together.

I really love all of my fish. Taking care of them has become an enjoyable hobby for me. Just make sure that when you get your fish you have a large enough tank and the proper equipment to maintain a healthy environment for them. I have a 55 gallon tank and a 10 gallon quarantine tank at the moment. Fish are wonderful to have and are very relaxing to watch.

There are many good websites you can find on google that will help you research fish types and how to care for them. Good luck!
