How do you play with your pet fish?

My friend said her fish would swim to the top and let her pet it.
…………..Fishes don’t do that do they?!
She’s telling the truth. I have a Betta that jumps up out of the water to grab his food. If you go over and talk to him he swims back and forth like he’s waving

When I was younger a friend had some goldfish and we started to have goldfish olympics throwing them around see which made the better dive, kinda sad really, one goldfish was injured in the process.
