Which of the pet bird species are quietest?

I have never owned a pet bird, but I have been thinking about buying one for a pet. I don’t want to be constantly annoyed or woken up at sunrise. A quiet bird that makes a sound or two every now and then would be perfect.

Finches would be your best bet. Maybe doves. My green cheek is pretty quiet, but occasionally will make noise. As a general rule, the smarter and more fun the bird, the noisier they are!!!!

I would have to say that the quietest birds I have ever had [which has included more than 30 species] would have to be the female canary or a zebra finch. However neither of these birds are "super human friendly" so they are more likely to be cage pets rather than interactive pets. Good luck

  2. i think you should get a parakeet. i had 2 of them and their names were jaylan and snoopy( they were so cute). they didnt really "talk". but they did sing 2 each other in the cage sometimes or would cuddle 2gether. the only other time they did wz if i let them out and they couldnt find each then they would call each other and then snoopy would fly 2 jaylan when he heard he call. if u decide to get a parakeet, get 2 because then they will be mean to the other if u got them seperate. i hope i helped

I have 2 parakeets but I do not recommend them if you want quiet. When the sun starts rising they do make a really loud screaming noise, they also randomly start making reaaaally loud noises that can get annoying after a while. They do have quiet moments and are really cute, but they can be pretty loud lol

I have a pair of them. They are very quiet parrots…the males talk more than females but they are not noisy.

Susie Christian http://www.eclectusville.com is an experienced on them and who I purchased my male from. I couldn’t be happier with these guys. My female Maigjha was found abandoned in a bush last winter. She can now play dead, She says: "Hi" to trees and is hilarious. They love going into the shower on a perch with you. Suction cupped perches are available and use a squirt bottle to soak ‘em.

They do have some dietary requirements. But their beauty and character cannot be beaten.

I use mine as ambassadors meeting and greeting kids.

Lineolated parakeets are perfect – they are friendly (or can be, if raised right), they make cute little warbling sounds, they can learn to talk, and are pretty quiet overall.
They can be difficult to find, but worth the effort.
    Best of luck.
