When a pet bird is looking into a mirror, does it think it sees another bird?

Our pet parakeet sometimes "talks" in front of its mirror, and I was wondering if it thinks there’s another bird there, or is it able to tell this is its reflection and it just likes to talk to its reflection. He also likes to vocalize with running water sounds or cellophane noises.
They do think its another bird. It can be great for keeping them busy and entertained, but they are less likely to bond with you or learn to talk. Because if they have such a handsome bird in there, why bother with you? :’)
Yes! My bird, Mr. Fred Flintstone, used to sing to and then turn around and fight his mirror.
Later, we put another bird in the cage…he did the same thing to it…(we had to separate them.)

Your bird can actually become attached to its’ own reflection. Careful, because a lot of times it bonds to the mirror and not as much with you! Of course, this isn’t always the case, so handle him frequently! He sounds like a real cutie.

I read somewhere that putting a mirror in front of your mouth while talking in a way your bird can see its reeflection it will think it is anothe bird and will try to immitate. Have not tried it yet but will once my amazon gets off weaning. And I would advise you to take out the mirror and only bring it out when you want it to start speaking maybe?
