My horse does not like being pet on his chin?

i was recently taking care of my horse and started petting him and got to his lower head and he almost bit my hand off and gets so sensitive when i pet him there. is there something wrong with him?

Why pet a horse where he doesn’t want to be petted? Petting is supposed to be something enjoyable, not something they don’t like.

  1. He might have a rash or cut of some sort that is sore and he is uncomfortable?

Some horses naturally come with diffrent areas that they do not like having touched for example i had a horse that you coudlent even brush his girth area. What i did was i got him to trust me more did more things with him. you need to start slowly working you self near his chin if he throws a warning move slowly back from that area, wait untill he has settled down then make your way back (BE CAREFUL) do this each and every day eventually he will be okay. also how long have you been noticing this could you touch him there before? because if you could then there could be a minor cut or something that is a little tender.
Good Luck hope that i could help
