Is it OK to use these hair products on my dog?

My dogs get really bad tangles in their fur, so I have been trying different hair salon products on their fur. Is this OK?

The products are BioSilk, Biolage — Shielding Shine Mist, and Regis Glossing Cream. Do you think these are fine for my dogs? They won’t hurt them, will it?

Yes, it’s fine.

I use Bumble and Bumble Prep as a detangler for my dogs and cats. Works great. The crap about human shampoo being deadly to dogs is a bunch of bull. The difference between dog skin and human skin is a pH level of .05 NOT enough to be affected by "harsh human chemicals". Unless your dog is super senstive or has allergies or other skin condition, human hair products will not harm him.

  1. I am taking that this question is a joke.

    No, it is not ‘OK.’

ADD: I change my mind. I own a shih tzu. I like to add purple streaks to her hair. I always get compliments on it! I think I might even add some pink in. It’s easy! Just go to a beauty store, and buy some hari dye made for humans. Put it on your dogs hair, and wa-la, tres jolie!

No, dogs lick their bodies to clean themselves. So they are eating that shampoo. Plus those products will give your dog dry skin and make them itch. PetsMart or Petco should carry a conditioner that you can use to get the tangles out that is pet safe.

I was always told a dog requires a different PH level
    than we do.
But I’ve used human shampoos and rinses on dogs.
My favorite tho is "Show Sheen" – a horse coat conditioner.

Most products are not tested on animals so there is no telling how your dog will react to them.
Play it safe and buy a special dog shampoo.
There are different kinds for different fur types.
I’m sure you could find one with detangler in it.
    good luck! :]

Yes, as long as they are not allergic. But most people suggest that you use a puppy shampoo because it has more ‘nutrients’, etc. that will be helpful to the health of your dog. But I think the hair products you listed are fine – as long as your dogs finds them okay (no itching, etc.). He/She will smell great! :-)

Go to the pet supply store and get your dog products. Doggie skin is more sensitive than yours. Also, comb or brush them daily. There are no quick solutions to hair "nappies". Time and work is necessary. Maybe if you know a good groomer you can get some tips.

  10. Well, I am not for sure about that but, my dads dogs vet told my dad to wash his Miniature Collie in Selsun Blue shampoo. My dads dog has BAD skin and dandruff. [:

They make dog products. It’s called shampoos and daily brushings. If you cannot keep up with the tangles then have the dog shaved down.

as long as the label does not say anything about DO NOT USE ON ANIMALS then u can use it otherwise…but most shampoos use animals to test it…there are alot of shampoos for dogs…i would recoment using groomax shampoo and dog conditioner and detangle dog spray…just look in your local petco or pets mart

    Yes it’s fine.
Just make sure you don’t us too much, otherwise it might dry out their skin too much. A good thing to help prevent flees is tea tree oil. It’s good for their skin, makes their coat silky and smooth as well as get rid of fleas! You can purchase from Walmart, or if you live in Australia, Safeway or Coles.

I use some human hair stuff on my dogs. I dont use it ever day but for an occasional bath. Most products are ok to use on dogs. Usually the worse that will happen is dry their skin out. I would just be careful with what I use and make sure it’s not bothering their skin. Read the labels and try not to use stuff that is full of chemicals and stuff.

Any suggestions to help get rid of any allergens? I just bought a mouse that you put on the hair and comb in that’s supposed to help block the proteins in the hair. Any other suggestions?
