My friends has a two tiny fish in his small plastic tank (the base area of the tank is smaller than an A4 paper).
There is snails in the tank and they reproduce and grow big fast.
I would like to know if the snails are harmful to the pet fish?
If the fish is tiny, like neon tetra size, will the snail eat the fish??

no they are not inherantly dangerous to your fish. no they wont eat them (unless your fish are sick or dying/dead.

the real problems come from the bioload bundles of snails put on your tank..

I once kept pond snails (what I think you have) in a tank by themselves and it was all i could do to keep the snails in and get enough water out to keep it clean. I kept the tank on a east facing windowsill – all the alegea they could eat and tehy made MORE than all the poop I could clean.

this taxes the filter as well as tiny nails getting in it and dying. eventaully just in sheer numbers they could overpopulate and overpollute your tank ( I see polution becoming a problem before depletion of oxygen comming into play)

If you want to manully control the population, Take a stainless spoon and ,using the back, crush the smaller snails – you fish will love the tasty inside bits the shell protects.
{{*******DO NOT CRUSH THEM WITH YOUR FINGER******}}
(snails potentially carry bacteria that can cause NASTY infections if the shell breaks in a way as to puncture your skin(cut you).)

High copper levels in your tank will kill them (copper sulfate(i think) is availble at most pet stores for this purpose) It is safe for most fish.

What are you favorite tropical and freshwater fish to have as pets? Tell me what you know about them and why you like/liked them so much. What do they look like? How big do they get? Any pictures?
I’m looking to get some fish and I would love to hear your opinions:)

My favorite fish are my 4 angel fish
my fire mouths
my blue eyed cichlids
my gouramis
and my 4 rainbow fish
my marine tank are my percula clown fish they have such beauty

Place a tropical fish tank in an area that doesn’t have too much sunlight, as this will cause an overgrowth of algae in the tank. Learn about the importance of filtration in tropical fish tanks with help from the owner of a pet store in this free video on tropical fish tanks.
