my cat ate gift wrapping string, will he be ok?

my cat kept chewing on the gift wrapping string, those things you use to tie gift boxes etc
I was using these and since he likes playing with them so much, I gave him a left over piece thats about 8cm long
I thought he would just chew it and play around
but I think he ate it
I totally did not expect him to eat it I thought he was just gonna chew on it and play with it (since he likes to chew and play with wires that I don’t use)
will he be ok?
arggg I cant believe he ate it!
my cat poops in the toilet, so I couldn’t check if there was silver ribbons piece in there
but he seems ok?
I guess I’ll take him to the vet if anything seems wrong…

LMAO – to funny.. Since it’s a small piece don’t worry about him.. He didn’t choke.. Just keep an eye on him.. watch to make sure he eats and drinks water like he normally does..

Also watch for his poop (i know gross) but it HAS to come out.. If it doesn’t there can be a problem.. it could be wrapped up inside him constricting something or blocking this and that..

Once it comes out.. think of it as kitty lesson learned (even though he won’t care) don’t let him chew or play with this stuff it can cause problems and HUGE vet bills..

Did it have wire in it? If so you may want to call a vet as it may puncture something on the way down. But yes I mean lesson learned don’t do that again but he will be fine just make sure he maintains normal behavior. And try to make sure he passes it. I am sure he will be okay.

Yes, they eat that ribbon and tinsil… one of the main reasons when I was young we quit putting it on the tree. Even this year I had to take all the ribbon of the presents before bed because I knew the cats would be at them and would eat whatever they could rip off….. 8cm isnt long enough to do damage.. he didnt choke, which would be the first issue.. now its just a matter of it coming out in the litter box.. keep an eye out for it… … not sure why but they eat this stuff… my cats play with twist ties, piece of feathers.. whatever and never eat them… but present ribbon… yum yum…..

Dont worry, its a short piece… if it was really long, then I would worry because it could get tangled in the intestines and cause problems….

My kitty did this too but luckily pooped out silver wrapped turds.. (gross but funny) he looked at it and kinda coc*ked his head to the side wondering WTF.. BUT WATCH dummy tried eating it again!

Clean it out of box right away!

Actually it’s really dangerous. The string can tie itself around the intestine or get stuck, or whatever else. Check with the vet as soon as possible.
